The Spice Girls plan to spice up the West End with a new musical based on their career.

Comic Jennifer Saunders is responsible for writing the script of provisionally titled 'Viva Forever', bringing all their greatest hits together in one show.

Saunders told the Daily Mail that she thinks the Spice Girls are 'fantastic', having had her own cameo role in their hit single Who Do You Think You Are?

It was Judy Craymer's idea to bring the girl group's hits to the stage, who had her own worldwide success with Abba- based musical Mamma Mia!

Former Baby Spice Emma Bunton said the group became "emotional" reading the script and that stories that Mel B and Mel C had fallen out over the show were "ridiculous". Speaking on her Saturday Show on Heart FM, she said:

"This is not true at all. In fact, we've been getting very involved. The amazing Jennifer Saunders is writing it and we had a little read-through the other day. All I can say is that Mel C and I got a little bit emotional."

The Spice Girls had 10 top 10 hits in the UK over four years and sold more than 75 million records worldwide.
