Confirmation has just come through that the economy contracted by 0.2% in the first three months of 2012.
In the last three months of 2011, it shrank by 0.3%.
Two quarters of negative growth make it an official recession - and although we have been using the term for some considerable time - we are now in that dreaded "double dip".
Downing Street had these figures 24 hours before the rest of us. But that relaunch is not going very well by anyone's standards.
Oh and voters have a chance to express their own opinions in the polling booths in 8 days time.
