Red Cross volunteer David State paused on his Olympic torch relay leg to propose to his girlfriend Christine Langham today in North Yorkshire.
The crowds, who had lined the streets to get a glimpse at the Olympic flame, cheered as David popped the question.
Christine, who is eight-months pregnant with the couple's child, replied with an excited 'yes'. And after kissing his bride-to-be, David jogged off to complete his run.
The proposal took place on the leg between Marske-by-the-Sea and Loftus in North Yorkshire.
David, from Redcar, was selected to carry the Olympic flame in return for his volunteer work with the Red Cross and the North East Ambulance Service.
