Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Queen's favourite songs are Miss Otis Regrets and People Will Say We're In Love
The Queen's favourite songs include Miss Otis Regrets and People Will Say We're In Love, Andrew Lloyd Webber has said.
The musical impresario recently co-wrote Sing, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee song, with Gary Barlow.
He told the Radio Times how the Queen "loved" the small birthday celebration he held for her at his house where some of her favourite tunes, including Miss Otis Regrets and People Will Say We're In Love, were played.
Miss Otis Regrets was written about a woman who shoots "her lover down" in 1934 by Cole Porter.
People Will Say We're In Love is a show tune from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Oklahoma!
– Andrew Lloyd WebberShe came round to my house and we did the cake there and a small cabaret that ended with us performing Sing twice for her, and she loved it.
We had Gareth (Malone) there, and half a dozen Military Wives and a few friends from racing... so we got their wives and we had the Racing Wives along with the Military Wives. It was a great evening.
