Bleak British summer set to continue

Where has our summer gone? Photo: Press Association

The weather isn’t going to plan so far this month. Summer, it seems, is on hold. After the wettest June on record, July isn’t much better. It’s been extremely wet start to the month. Dorset was the wettest place in the UK.

Some areas in the county received three times the average July month rainfall total in just one week.

This week there’s little improvement. Further outbreaks of rain forecast and becoming breezy at times. Added to this, it’ll feel cooler and fresher as we lose the warm, muggy air we had last week.

The unsettled, cool conditions are due to us being under the influence of low pressure systems for much of the week. And by glancing at the latest weather charts, there’s no signs of an improvement for the next few days at least

So, if you a craving warmth, blue skies and sunshine, head abroad. Southern Europe and the Mediterranean would the best bet for guaranteed sunshine - and perfect remedy for the summer blues.
