David Beckham has spoken about his disappointment at not being selected for the Team GB football squad for London 2012.
The football legend spoke about the moment the London 2012 team found out they had won their bid to host the Olympics back in 2007 and his disappointment not to be playing:
it was incredible moment, and then all the talk of me possibly performing in the Olympics - it would have been a very proud moment for me.
It would have been incredible, so of course I'm disappointed.
But the midfielder was quick to say that he would still be going to London 2012 as an Ambassador and would still be behind all of the athletes competing:
But life goes on, my family are healthy, I'm pretty healthy.
At the end of the day I'll be there to support the GB Team. It's going to be a proud moment to be there and know that I was a part of bringing the Olympics to the East End of London
The former England player released a statement saying he was disappointed when the team was selected but this is the first time he has spoken publicly.
