An attempt to break the Guinness world record for the tallest tower of poppadoms has crumbled in defeat.

The existing record is held by the Indian Ocean Restaurant in Ashton-Under-Lyne, with 1,075 poppadoms measuring 1.57 metres in height and is still standing strong.
