Mitch Winehouse has said his daughter's ex-husband "is going to get through this" after he was left fighting for his life at a West Yorkshire hospital following an apparent drink and drugs binge.
Blake Fielder-Civil, 30, was found choking in bed by partner Sarah Aspin last Friday before being rushed to hospital with multiple organ failure.
Fielder-Civil, a recovering drug addict, had gone out drinking with a friend the previous day and Ms Aspin, mother of his 15-month-old son, said she believed he might have taken an illicit substance.
He was put into an induced coma and on a life support machine in hospital in Dewsbury.
Mr Winehouse took to Twitter to voice his views:
It looks like Blake is going to get through this. That's good news. Mitch
I am not supporting Blake but I am praying for his recovery.
Earlier in the week, he had asked fans to pray for Fielder-Civil saying: "Remember Amy loved him".
Ms Aspin, 34, who met Winehouse's former husband in rehab three years ago, told The Sun: "The doctors said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection. I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up."
Fielder-Civil has long battled heroin addiction and spent time in prison in 2007.
The former music video assistant married pop star Winehouse in 2007 and they divorced two years later.
