Rogue firework sets off dramatic display in Spain

At least 28 people have been injured in Elche, Spain by a rogue firework accidentally setting off thousands of others in a Spanish church bell tower.

Streams of sparks and burning material landed on festivalgoers below.

A spokeswoman for Elche town hall said the church fireworks were covered by a protective blanket and in a pack designed to shoot the rockets into the air before exploding.

She added that three firework operators were hospitalised for serious burns while 25 people were treated for minor injuries.
