Lord Coe leads Games Makers tribute at closing ceremony
LOCOG chairman Seb Coe spoke about meeting an Olympic and Paralympic Games Makers during the Paralympic closing ceremony.
He described meeting Andrew, a doctor at St Mary's Hospital, who was volunteering to help at the boxing.
Lord Coe described trying to thank Andrew for his help, but Andrew said he was the one who wanted to do the thanking.
Lord Coe went on to quote Andrew as saying;
– Andrew, Games MakerI was on duty on 7/7 that awful day, for me this is closure. I wasn't sure I should come, or whether I could face it. I'm so glad I did for I've seen the worst of mankind and now I've seen the best of mankind.
Lord Coe went on to quote a Paralympic Games Maker as saying that the Games had;
– Emily, Games MakerIt has lifted the cloud of limitations.
Lord Coe then took the opportunity to thank all of the Games Makers, to rapturous applause from the 80,000 spectators in the Olympic Stadium, as the crowds gave the games Makers a standing ovation for their contribution to London 2012.
