Out on the campaign trial President Obama has been meeting voters, but in one pizzeria he got a warmer welcome than he was expecting.
When the president walked in to the Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Florida, owner Scott Van Duzer at first seemed a little star-struck, but he soon got to grips with his famous guest.
It was not a typical welcome for the commander in chief.
Scott, who is 6'3" and weighs 260 pounds, was visibly excited to meet Obama and lost no time in wrapping his arms around the president's back for a hug before lifting him up off the ground.
"Man, are you a power lifter or what?" Obama joked after being placed back on the ground.
Van Duzer later said he was overcome with excitement.
Prior to the hug, Obama noted Van Duzer's muscular build, saying, "Everybody look at these guns."
He added, "Scott, let me tell you, you are like the biggest pizza shop owner I've ever seen."
Van Duzer told reporters that he is a Republican but doesn't vote along party lines and that he had voted for Obama in 2008 and will do again this year.
Van Duzer said he received notice that the president was stopping by about forty minutes before the president's arrival.
He said he cut short a round of golf so that he could rush back and meet the president.
