Bright sunshine before frost and rain

Enjoy the bright weather at the beginning of this week because it is downhill from Wednesday.

The rest of Sunday is looking fine and dry, with some lovely sunshine and a high of around 14C.

However, clear skies overnight may mean temperatures as fall as low as 2C away from the city.

So there could be a ground frost first thing Monday morning - and also leave extra time to scrape frost off your car windscreen.

At least Monday dawns bright, albeit a little misty.

Wrap up warm if you are heading out because it will be chilly.

There is little change throughout the day, with some bright or sunny spells.

Later in the day the cloud will thicken from the west, heralding the arrival of the next weather system.

Highs on Monday should reach 15C.

The rain will move across the country on Monday night, leaving Tuesday with a legacy of cloud and brightening skies in the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach 14C with a brisk breeze, so slightly cooler than Monday.

Wednesday will see the wind pick up further, blowing in some showers.

Keep your umbrella handy for Thursday as the current forecast is for rain.
