The BBC today admitted that in 3 areas the blog written by Newsnight editor, Peter Rippon was “inaccurate or incomplete.”
One of the areas is if any of the evidence Newsnight collected would have helped the police.
Mr Rippon said all the women had contacted the police independently and that Newsnight had no new evidence against any other person that would have helped the police.
The BBC now admits that this was wrong.
So where does this leave the Director General George Entwistle and the Chairman of the BBC Trust Lord Patten who both told ITV News that the police had been called in at the outset?
