Barack Obama has secured re-election as US President beating Republican challenger Mitt Romney. Here are the best pictures from election night:

Obama tweeted "four more years" after it became apparent he would secure re-election. The tweet - which featured a picture of Obama hugging wife Michelle - became the most retweeted in the history of the social networking site:

Musician Lady Gaga and Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria tweeted pictures of them celebrating Obama's win. Beyonce earlier shared a picture of her ballot paper on her Tumblr site:
