News that many existing Comet staff had feared has come this morning.
Without a buyer to come forward the administrators have said that another 125 shops will close in the next few weeks. That will leave only 70 shops left while the rest of the stock is sold off.
Unless a last minute saviour for the business is found this could leave as many as 5,000 workers out of work just in the run up to Christmas.
There have been talks with potential buyers, but with no deal so far, the future for the chain and perhaps more importantly its staff looks grim.
