Woman found dead at Premier League football ground

A young woman has been found dead after a Christmas party at a Premier League football ground.

The 22-year-old woman was found at the bottom of a stairwell on Saturday morning at Reading's Madejski Stadium.

Police say she was discovered at 12.50am in the Millennium Madejski Hotel, which forms part of the football ground.

She suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene. Her family has been told but she has not been formally identified.

The woman had been attending a Christmas party at the time of the incident. We are treating her death as unexplained and there are a number of inquiries taking place to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

A post-mortem examination was due to take place yesterday and no arrests have been made.
