Of all the strange reasons for transport delays - freak snowstorms, the wrong kind of leaves, stray pets - a moving fleet of genetically modified robotic mechanical shells is not usually one of them.
But Transport for London tweeted today:
The filming of Doctor Who has finished at Westminster Bridge, the Daleks are in the process of being removed.
Tower Lifeboat, the RNLI station based on the Thames, tweeted: "We spotted these earlier - was a shock to see but thankfully we were safe down on the river from them!"
Today’s filming aim to recreate the Daleks' first invasion of earth, shot in 1964 – also early on a Sunday morning.

There was speculation last week that all the surviving actors who played Doctor Who are to be brought together for the programme’s 50th anniversary special.
