Snoopers' Bill shelved as Nick Clegg hits campaign trail

The Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has said that plans to keep records of everyone's website visits, emails and other social media activities, "will not happen," as he put it. The so-called snoopers' charter, if it did go ahead, would allow the police access.

Blocking it will be regarded, by his Liberal Democrats, as one of the benefits of being in government. But what of his party's popularity generally? With a week to go to the local elections, political correspondent Romilly Weeks joined Mr Clegg on the campaign trail:
