Three astronauts are heading into space on China's most ambitious space mission to date.

The astronauts, including the country's second woman astronaut, are heading to an experimental space station, where they will remain for the next 15 days, more than 200 miles above Earth.

By the end of the decade, China hopes to be a competitor in the global space industry, with a permanent space laboratory.
