X Factor fans were treated to backing vocals from Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow when they helped out a wanna be singer with backing vocals on his X Factor audition.
Singer and salesman Colin Stacey, will doubtless feature at some point later in show after he brought in a picture of his cat Patch to help him in his singing test.
He told the judges that his cat loves his singing, and in so doing sparked a Twitter trend.
His version of Adele's hit Someone Like You ends up with the Take That star and the former Pussycat Doll joining in, with Scherzinger telling the 45-year-old from south east London: "Did you hear us? We were trying to help you."
Another singer, part-time DJ Thomas Feeley, brought in some feedback forms for judges to fill in about his performance.
The 54-year-old from Leeds, who sang Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder, told Louis Walsh that most of his audiences give him "10 out of 10", but the idea did not catch on with Barlow.
He said: "That would scare me, doing them at my concerts. 'Did you like the concert?', 'No'."Another act who caught the judge's attention was Devon teenager Barclay Beales, who yodelled his way his performance.
