How to escape the energy price trap

  • First, see if you can make your home more energy efficient. Small things like turning off the TV from standby – to larger projects like insulation.
  • Next, switch. It’s surprising that despite all the hype, only 16% of customers change supplier. Comparison sites today were indicating some people could save between £150 and £289
  • And then there’s the growing market in fixing your energy price. Some of the sites tell me half their customers are now doing this. It’s possible to take out a long-term tariff up to 2017 and prices for some deals are comparable to what families are paying today
