Lorna Simpson has become the first act to exit The X Factor after the judges chose to send her home over Shelley Smith.
Lorna came bottom of the audience vote on Sunday night and joined her fellow over-25s contestant Shelley in the sing-off.
Shelley became the first victim of the new "flash vote" last night and found out she would be singing for survival.
She sang Jennifer Hudson's hit One Night Only from the Dreamgirls musical.
Lorna chose Faith Hill's classic There You''ll be as her "save me" song.
After they had both sang their mentor, Sharon Osbourne, decided to abstain from voting, leaving her acts' fate in the hands of Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger.
Sharon wrote on Twitter when she found out Lorna and Shelley were facing off in the sing-off:
Louis chose to send Lorna home, while Gary opted for Shelley, leaving Nicole with the final say.
As she made her decision, the former Pussy Cat Doll told Shelley, "There is something about you and I think there is more to see from you."
