The Queen rules Christmas TV screens and has beaten off popular contenders to take the top spot in a poll of the most watched festive telly.

Nearly a fifth of people, 18%, said they tuned in to the Queen's Christmas speech and considered it as much a part of Christmas day as the Turkey.

ITV's Coronation Street special came in second at 10%, while only 3% of people picked the Downton Abbey Christmas special for their seasonal viewing.

The poll, commissioned by Samsung Smart TV, also found the average UK household will watch three hours and forty-five minutes of TV on Christmas Day and 10am was the most popular time for people to turn their TVs on.
