Aid workers have released startling pictures of queues for humanitarian parcels in a Palestinian refugee camp in Damascus, Syria.
UN distributions have been blocked in the Yarmouk camp for nearly two weeks, meaning the area, already devastated by the Syrian war, has been denied food and crucial medical supplies.
“I am deeply disturbed and shaken by what I observed today," UNRWA’s commissioner general Filippo Grandi said.
"The Palestine refugees with whom I spoke were traumatized by what they have lived through, and many were in evident need of immediate support, particularly food and medical treatment."
Only a delicate agreement between Syrian government forces and rebel groups allowed the UN workers into the camp.
