The Ukip leader Nigel Farage has criticised The Times, after it claimed that he faces an investigation into £60,000 of "missing" MEP expenses.

Mr Farage said he was the victim of a "smear" campaign, and claimed that it was a "motivated attack" from an establishment threatening to undermine his party before the European and local elections.

He told ITV News: "It's a classic case of me being singled out and treated differently to every other MEP".

ITV News correspondent Martin Geissler spoke to Mr Farage:

The Electoral Commission said it wanted to find out if the rent-free office at the centre of the row should have been declared as a donation by the party.
