More than 30,000 people attended the annual White House Easter Egg Roll today, hosted by U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle.
The First Lady's Let's Move programme introduced healthy food and activities to this year's event. The theme was 'Hop into Healthy, Swing into Shape'.
The president blew a whistle to begin the official Easter Egg Roll where children roll wooden eggs with spoons along a portion of the the South Lawn of the White House.
President Obama also read the children's classic 'Where The Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak to a group of children. He challenged them to show their "wild rumpus" as suggested in the book.
The President also posed for photographs with children. The very first Easter Egg Roll was held by President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1978.
