A rare zonkey - an unusual zebra and donkey crossbreed - has been born at a zoo in northern Mexico.

Khumba was born on April 21 at the Reynosa Zoo in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas.

Khumba's father Ignacio, a dwarf, blue-eyed albino donkey named Ignacio, lives on a nearby farm.

The unlikely love story began when Rayas visited Ignacio, who lives on a nearby farm.

She then started visiting Ignacio every afternoon, while he would return the favour with a trip to the zoo - leading to Khumba's arrival.
