Eight-year-old Haris was featured in last week's episode of the Tonight programme, What Next For The NHS?
He had been told that an operation giving him the chance to walk independently wasn't routinely available on the NHS.
But his parents weren’t giving up – they organised fundraising events including a fun-run and had raised more than half the £23,000 they needed for the surgery.
His story had such an impact on our viewers that within hours of the programme being broadcast the £23,000 target for the operation had been reached.
Haris and his parents are overwhelmed at the generosity of people they have never met and have offered their heartfelt thanks.
They still have several thousands to raise for physiotherapy following the op - but it means the surgery can now go ahead.
