The first photo of Ben Affleck starring as Batman was posted on Twitter by director Zack Snyder.
The star is pictured standing next to the Batmobile on set of the forthcoming Superman vs Batman film.
Although the actor was a controversial choice to play the role, the photo of the "new-look Batman" has had a positive response.
Costume designer Michael Wilkinson posted a close-up of Affleck in the new Batsuit which displays "serious muscle definition".
The caped crusader in the smoke-filled black and white shots suggests the character will "continue to be the brooding Batman we've come to know and love" from the Dark Knight trilogy, Rolling Stone magazine's Jon Blistein told BBC News.
Affleck will make his debut alongside British actor Henry Cavill as Superman on May 6 in 2016.
Details of the plot are being closely guarded, but screenwriter David Goyer told San Diego ComicCon: "We're actually not sure whether the title is Superman vs. Batman or Batman vs. Superman but yes, it's that rematch, that combination, the two guys onscreen and that's happening."
