Online TV service Netflix is reported to have plans for an epic drama based on the life of Queen Elizabeth II.
The show, set to be called The Crown, will start with her marriage to Prince Philip and cover the Queen's time on the throne. It will reunite playwright Peter Morgan with director Stephen Daldry.
The pair worked together on The Audience which starred Dame Helen Mirren as the monarch and was based around her regular meetings with her serving prime ministers.
The stage show, which had rave reviews in London, is said to be the inspiration for the planned 20-episode series.
Dame Helen, who won the leading actress Oscar in 2007 for her performance in the title role of The Queen, is not believed to be in the running for the leading role.
Netflix has had a huge critical and commercial success with two series of the political drama House Of Cards based on the BBC show of the same name and starring Kevin Spacey. It was also responsible for the original series Orange is the New Black and a new season of Arrested Development.
