Game of Thrones author George R R Martin is offering fans the chance to become a character in his next novel.
The author and executive producer of the fantasy show is auctioning off a number of prizes to raise money for a local wolf sanctuary and food bank near his home town.
HBO just announced that Game of Thrones, parts of which are filmed in Northern Ireland, is the most-watched programme in the cable channel's history, overtaking The Sopranos.
The prizes are staggered by amount donated: £50 will get you a T-shirt, £600.00 a signed and dedicated Game of Thrones Cookbook whilst £7,500 will bag you Martin's worn hat.
Two people, a man and a woman, who donate £20,000 will appear in the new Game of Thrones novel.
The website set up to host the bidding explains the prize:
There is one male character and one female character available.
You can choose your character's station in the world (lordling, knight, peasant, whore, lady, maester, septon, anything) and you will certainly meet a grisly death!
Despite the high cost, 4000 people have applied so far.
The money raised will go to The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in Santa Fe and The Food Depot, a local charity food bank providing food to half a million people in need every month across North New Mexico.
So far, the campaign has raised $331,118 and runs for the next 40 days.
