The former long-time personal assistant of Nelson Mandela has revealed that she believed in the Apartheid when she first started working for him.
Zelda la Grange, a self-confessed racist, was the former South African President's PA for 16 years.
Speaking to ITV News, La Grange said:
“Suddenly this man, who I was brought up to think was a terrorist is standing in front of me, is extending his hand to me, and is speaking to me in Afrikaans, my home language. So my defence system just collapsed immediately.
Her new memoir charts how Mandela changed and challenged her views. ITV News correspondent Paul Davies reports:
