A New York Yankees baseball fan is suing two sports commentators and their employer for 'mocking' him when he was caught on television cameras snoozing during a game at Yankee Stadium.

Andrew Rector has filed a $10m (£5.8m) lawsuit against Dan Shulman and John Kruk from US sports broadcaster ESPN, claiming that they "opened an unending verbal crusade against the napping plaintiff" and "unleashed an avalanche of disparaging words" and graphics to ridicule him.

Rector says he suffered "substantial injury" to his "character and reputation" and "mental anguish, loss of future income and loss of earning capacity."

The lawsuit filed in Bronx Supreme Court last week also names ESPN, Major League Baseball and the Yankees as defendants. They didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
