Vintage wartime planes perform fly-past first for £5m memorial appeal

Thousands of people flocked to RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire today as vintage wartime planes performed a special fly-past.

Two Second World War Avro Lancaster bombers flanked the last remaining airworthy Cold War Vulcan for the first time in history, as part of a £5 million appeal for a new memorial honouring the 25,000-plus heroes of Bomber Command who died in action.
