A US heavy metal band called Isis have received online abuse from people mistaking them with the Islamist militant group fighting in Iraq and Syria.
Despite their Facebook profile picture showing the group - who split up in 2010 - performing, Isis have received numerous abusive messages, with the volume increasing after the murder of American journalist James Foley.
Aaron Harris, the band's former drummer, told US TV network ABC News: "It certainly caught us off guard....Fans have emailed us that they're reluctant to wear our T-shirts now and we've also gotten some off-colour comments."
The band have now changed the name of their official Facebook page from "Isis" to "Isis the band."
“It is an unfortunate situation and of course a few less than enlightened people are not seeing the distinction between an inactive band of musicians and a band of terrorists involved in current world affairs,” the band's former record label said.
