David Beckham has responded to rumours that he could be the next Bond.

The former England footballer has made cameo appearances in The Man From U.N.C.L.E and will be appearing in Guy Ritchie's Knights of the Roundtable.

Beckham spoke to Good Morning Britain about being linked to Bond and whether he could get a licence to kill.

I was at the US Open and Sean Connery was two seats in front of me, and I'm such a big fan of his.

I was going to kind of knock him on the shoulder and say, 'You know apparently I'm up for the next role!'

But it seems - for now - the answer is no.

"I've definitely not been contacted, I'm definitely not obviously up for doing something like that, but it's nice to be linked I suppose," Beckham added.

Asked about his upcoming role in Knights of the Roundtable, the footballer-turned-model admitted he had more lines than he had wanted.

I thought it would be a word here and there, but it was like 11 or 12 lines, and I was like, 'This is going to be a real challenge.'

But it went well. It went really well on the day and I enjoyed it.

Beckham was asked about his wife Victoria's comments that daughter Harper's desire to be a footballer was a "dagger through the heart" - but the doting father said he loved the news.

"It was the best thing I had ever heard," he said.

Although it appears Harper does get at least one thing from her mother.

"She runs in high heels, so she's definitely got that from Victoria," Beckham said with a smile.
