Prince Charles has urged Britons to holiday at home this year and visit parts of the country which were hardest hit by winter flooding.
The keen environmentalist called on the public to rally around communities that have bounced back despite floods wreaking "devastation and heart-breaking losses" and to support their recovery.
Writing in the Daily Telegraph he said:
The call for extra support comes after Met Office figures released on Wednesday confirmed Britain had seen the second wettest winter on record with a total rainfall of 529 mm last year as severe storms battered the country.
Hotels, bed and breakfasts, businesses and attractions in Britain's most popular beauty spots were destroyed and faced a battle to recover in time for the 2016 holiday season.
