Key road destroyed in Storm Desmond reopened after five months

  • ITV News Report by Damon Green

A main road which was destroyed in Storm Desmond has been reopened after five months of repairs.

People living in between Grasmere and Keswick celebrated the arrival of tourists in the sleepy Lake District villages, as the A591 main road was officially reopened - and tourists flooded in - two weeks ahead of schedule.

The road was completely destroyed in storm Desmond which hit the Lake District in December last year, and the storm left parts of Grasmere village underwater.
