Pressure is growing on a judge who gave a Stanford University student a six-month sentence for rape.
Brock Turner, 20, was convicted in March this year of the January 2015 attack, where he assaulted the unconscious and partially naked woman.
The attack, described by Turner's father as "20 minutes of action", was only stopped by chance after two Swedish graduates passed by.
Last week, Judge Aaron Persky handed a six-month sentence to Turner, despite a victim impact statement written by the woman going viral.
Now a petition calling for Judge Persky to be removed from the judicial bench has received over 1.1 million signatures.
The change.org petition demands Judge Persky be removed for the "lenient" sentencing.
In addition to his jail term, Turner was given a three-year probation order and told to register on the sex offenders' list for life.
In court, prosecutors recommended Turner receive a jail term of six years.
Afterwards, US Vice President Joe Biden wrote a letter to the victim, saying he felt "furious anger" over the sentence.
