Appeal to find 'have-a-go gran' who helped stop shoplifters

Police want to trace a 'have-a-go gran' who tried to stop a pair of shoplifters in Hull.

Officers want to commend the "elderly heroine", who is aged between 70 and 80, for jumping out and trying to grab the culprits as they fled.

The thieves were later arrested by two Pcs who were giving chase - but they never got to thank the woman for her assistance.

Pc Donna Wagner, said: "This was a lovely and very brave thing that the lady did.

"Unfortunately we were not able to thank her at the time - and by the time we had apprehended the couple, she had left the area.

"Knowing that people like her and the wider public are behind us makes a real difference.

"We would love to locate her so we can thank her properly and she can be commended for her heroics."

The theft happened at the Kingston Retail Park at around 1.35pm on Sunday 9 October.
