Mike Pence dismisses Donald Trump's call for apology from Hamilton cast
The US Vice President-elect has dismissed Donald Trump's claims that he should demand an apology from the producers of hit Broadway show Hamilton.
Mike Pence said he "wasn't offended" after actor Brandon Victor Dixon addressed him from the stage expressing disappointment with the election result.
Standing with the cast behind him at the end of the show, Dixon said: “Vice-president elect Pence, I see you walking out, but I hope you will hear us, just a few more moments. There’s nothing to boo here, ladies and gentlemen.
"We’re all here sharing a story about love.
“We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights.
"We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”
President-elect Trump then accused Dixon of "harassing" Pence, swiftly demanding an apology.
He wrote on Twitter: “Our wonderful future VP Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theatre by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!”
But speaking to Fox New Sunday, Pence said he understood that many Americans were disappointed and anxious after Trump's election victory.
He then sought to reassure Americans that Trump would be a president "for all Americans."
