The cold spell shows little let up

The cold spell is showing little let up. Crispy and crunchy with widespread ice and temperatures barely above freezing, if at all.

An early sunset will mean temperatures tumble again by late afternoon. Rain in from the west will fall as sleet and hill snow initially, especially over hills of Scotland, Northern Ireland, northern England and Wales. As the rain falls on freezing ground, it'll turn readily to ice.
