Thousands sign up for Great East Swim
by Laura Burns
Troops from Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk have been helping to launch this year's Great East Swim. At least eight service personnel from the base are taking part in the mass open water event to raise money for Help the Heroes. Thousands of others have already signed up too.
The event takes place at Alton Water Reservoir near Ipswich. In 2011, around 2,500 swimmers took part with a wide range of abilities fundraising for a wide range of causes.
More than 2,000 people have already signed up to this year's event, which looks set to be the most popular on record. It's going to be held on 16 June 2012.
