An historic clock tower will be lifted into place at Delapre Abbey later this afternoon. It follows a restoration programme to put the clock back into full working order.
It's Northampton Borough Council's key heritage project and is intended to bring more of the building back into public use as well as to safeguard it for the future.
Councillor Tim Hadland, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Enterprise and Planning, said: "This work marks an important step in the exciting project to bring Delapre Abbey and its surroundings back to their former glory.
"The Abbey is one of Northampton's most beautiful and significant buildings. As the town develops and grows we will be making sure our fascinating history is respected and celebrated."
Northampton Borough Council won more than £250,000 of development funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to develop plans to restore and conserve Delapre Abbey.
