Restoration work will begin on the iconic Vauxhall Bridge in Great Yarmouth today.

It'll include two weeks of trials into the extent of the work needed to restore the Grade 2 listed structure, which has been damaged by more than 160 years of weathering.

The cast iron bridge was first opened in 1852, and was modified in 1886 to take railway locomotives.

It was closed to road and rail traffic in 1953, although the footbridge is still used by pedestrians and cyclists.
