Swimmer Roberto Pavoni and cyclist Annie Last have good reason to be excited about competing at London 2012, with their events taking place at venues special to them.
London's Aquatics Centre is just a few miles away from Pavoni's home at Brentwood in Essex. He qualified for the men's 400m Individual Medley and the 200m Butterfly events at last month's National Trials.
"Its a hundred days to go until my first race as well, because I'm competing on the first day" said Pavoni, speaking at Team GB's recent training camp in London.
"It's going to fly by. I remember when we won the games bid in 2005 and I said I've got seven years to get onto that team and how am I going to do it.
"Now I'm sitting here saying 'How am I going to make the final, and so on'. I know it's going to fly by and it'll be here in a flash."
With the mountain biking taking place at Hadleigh Farm in Essex, cyclist Annie Last has an extra incentive to try and clinch a place place in Team GB's squad.
Last, from Bakewell in Derbyshire, said: "My nan and grandad both live at Leigh-on-Sea which is literally ten minutes away across the hill where the mountain bike course is. They're excited, and if I can get to race just minutes away from their home it will be brilliant.
"When I was younger we used to come to Essex a lot. So it would be nice if I could race here with my grandparents and friends watching.
"Qualification finishes in May' Last added. That's when you find out if your nation has a place. At the moment we have a place and if everything goes accoring to plan then we'll be fine."
