Suffolk brewer predicts good times

Suffolk-based brewer, Greene King says the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics and the Euro 2012 football tournament will all help sales during the summer.

The company, which is based in Bury St Edmunds, has posted quarterly figures which have exceeded city expectations.

The group, which operates 2,400 pubs, restaurants and hotels, sold 220,000 meals on Mother's Day, up 16% on the previous year while wine sales were up 18%.

The City expects the group to make pre-tax profits of £148.2 million in the year to the end of April, up from £140 million the previous year.
