Around 5000 people have crammed every pavement in and around the Lister Hospital in Stevenage to catch a glimpse of the Queen on the latest leg of her Diamond Jubilee tour.
The Queen arrived looking happy and relaxed and dressed in lilac to officially open the hospitals new £16million Diamond Jubilee maternity unit.
Trust Chairman Ian Morfett told us: "It's a fantastic event for everyone involved, from our midwives and doctors who helped to design it, to the mothers who are meeting the Queen."
"It's a great occasion which has allowed thousands of people from the Stevenage community to join us in celebrating the royal visit."
The Queen will visit the hospital for half an hour before leaving for another royal engagement.
