More than 30 firefighters have been tackling a blaze in a cafe in the centre of the Suffolk town of Aldeburgh.

It's the second major fire to have broken out in a restaurant in the county in 48 hours. On Saturday night, there was a serious fire at Strada in the centre of Bury St Edmunds.

In Aldeburgh, the main street through the town was closed for several hours while firefighters dealt with the fire at the Aldeburgh Market cafe. Several customers were led to safety after it broke out shortly before 11 o' clock.

Julie Phipps, who has a shop across the road, said: "It was pretty scary. One person went through the cafe door not realising there was a fire inside and the owner had to lead them out pretty quickly."

The blaze was put out by 1.30pm.
