East of England unemployment up
Unemployment in the East of England is up in the latest set of figures published by the Office of National Statistics. They're risen by 2,000 to 209,000 people.
In the East Midlands, which covers Northamptonshire, the unemployment total is 186,000 which is down by 1,000. The figures cover the three-months to the end of April and are compared to the previous quarter.
Nationally the jobless trend is downwards with 51,000 fewer unemployed people with the total at 2.61 million.
When the last quarterly figures were published in May there were 207,000 unemployed in the East of England.
